"From beasts we scorn as soulless
In forest, fields, and den
The cry goes up to witness
The soullessness of men."

Here is a lovely mother-less kitty that sleeps most of the time. They couldn't find the mother and it was starving. So ...guess what I got for my birthday from the kids! She is a tortise-shell with lovely blue eyes.
Sabre is a new cat for us. He is a Russian Blue big boy. He is (according to the vet) approx. 5 years old. He weighs 15.2 lbs. He had a ear infection and eats so much that I had blood work done to make sure that there was no thyroid problem. He is the sweetest cat I've ever seen.
He was discarded alone outside because of his appetite. I rescued him and he will probably be staying here. He loves the other dogs, cat, and goats. He is very talkative!
Please if you don't want your animals anymore....don't just throw them away. Call a rescue.
Jan 4, 2009 JoJo is a Red nose - Purebred Pittbull.
There was a house fire at an abandoned house last night. I went over this morning looking for any pets. The only thing left is what you see above.
I went back to the house to get him food. He barked at me but I knew that it ws because he was scared. You could see where he was on his logging chain for a long, long time. He was burned by the fire and was limping.
I set up a place for him, but when I went to get him - the owner was there. He told me to take him and find him a good home. Because of a difficult divorce, JoJo was left to fend for himself for several months. He had a bad life because he refused to fight in the ring. JoJo is a lover- not a fighter. He was not nuetered, and looked like he hadn't been fed in a year.
I gave him some antibiotics and pain meds I keep around the house for the dog rescue. He ate like it had been forever.
He was so sweet, that he just layed in my lap, literally. I contacted a wonderful woman, Jodi, who runs Bless the Bullies pit bull rescue. She took one look of the picture and it brought tears to her eyes. (Me too)
Now he is off to the vet and a new life. Thanks Jodi!

Here is JoJo now:
"Lily" is a Clumber Spaniel mix. (Kind of like a Cocker Spaniel) She has had a hard time lately. She is 12-14 years old. She must have had a home at one time because she is quite well behaved. When I first saw her she was in the woods by my daughters house. Someone had dumped her. She wouldn't come near us but I could tell she wanted to. She was so scared. Now I know why. When she finally came around us, I took her home to our rescue.
I took her to the veterinarian and she was diagnosed with cataracts, arthritis, and beginnings of congestive heart failue. She also had hookworms. I got her all shots, Bloodtests, and a full checkup. She had a heartworm test that was negative. She has now been treated for everything possible. Soon she will get xrays and more bloodwork. We will get her on heart medicine and try to get her stabilized so we can start saving for her cataract surgery.
***Lily will be staying here permanently.***
***Update*** 11/11/2008 - Lily passed away today.

"Horse Feathers" escaped from his owners pen in 2006....As I drove down the street last week (Oct.2008) there he was in with a group of horses. He had been only 2 miles away for 2 years. I went to the original owners home and she is thrilled to get him back.
***He is now home!***
Duke has lived a sad beginning. Tied up in the backyard. No people or other dogs to play with. Yet he still loves everyone. He wants to play "fetch" all the time. He loves kids. He is now going to a Labrador Retriever no-kill rescue called Paws for Rescue. His rugged good looks, blocky head, and love for people will help him to find a new forever home. He is a 1 yr old purebred, intact male....for now....:)
***Good News!!! Duke is such a great "sniffer", he has been picked up by the Police Department to aid in sniffing out drugs or bombs..(they will see what he does best).....he is going to have the best life!***
****12/13/2008 - I saw Duke on TV last night on the news. He was with the Drug sniffing graduate class. He graduated with honors!
Maddox - the Great Dane.
Found walking down the road by friends of my granddaughter. We took fecal sample to the vet. HOOKWORMS! Also, had been out so long...pads of paws were burnt down. Lovely dog though. Got right in my car. Was very friendly to my dogs, goats and cats! Here he is in our backyard....big boy! No one claimed him in the ads or at the shelter.
***He now has a new home with a veterinarian & lots of love.***

As you can see Venus has no front legs. She has been well taken care of by her human parents, Mr. & Mrs. Green. But she has been in a barn for most of her one year, so she wouldn't be injured. When a health crisis arose for Mrs Green she had to look for help for Venus.
When we got the call we knew we had to help.
***She has now gone to Home-For-Life in Minnesota. This is a wonderful sanctuary where she can live out her natural life. She will be getting a wheelchair to facilitate her running around. She is a loving goat that deserves to have a new start at life.***
Here is Capt Jack (we call him Pegleg)

He is getting a rolling caster for his back stump.
He was in a tragic weedwacker accident,
but he doesn't want to talk about it.
***He will be staying here.***
